Emma Davis – the melody behind our campaign
July, 18, 2011 By lisa
We are SO grateful to have the beautiful music of Emma Davis featured in our new campaign!!
Emma’s music is such a perfect accompaniment to our new video campaign that features the heart warming stories of some of the families whose lives have been touched by the work of our First Voice centres.
Emma has recently released her first album and it seems that we are not the only ones loving her soulful music and OH SO melodic voice and lyrics!!
It is so important to remember that behind our fundraising are the very real lives of deaf children and their families, changed forever when they are taught to listen and speak. There was a time when being born deaf meant a very isolating life of silence however that is just not the case these days.
The array of work being done by our centres is having such a positive and profound impact on hundreds of lives and we need to keep raising as much as possible so that all deaf children can access this life changing work.
We want to say a HUGE public thank you to Emma Davis for so generously allowing us to share her beautiful music throughout the new campaign.

LOUD inspiration
July, 7, 2011 By lisaWe hope to inspire some seriously LOUD fashion throughout the Loud Shirt Day campaign and on the day of the event…
Of course the LOUD shirt is the easiest way to wear your support but why not take it up a fashion notch and get some seriously LOUD outfit envy going on?
Here are some suggestions for planning your LOUD outfit:
- A neon handbag is a great way to increase the LOUD of any outfit.
- Why not paint each of your nails a different bright colour?
- Bright stripes are perfect to wear with bright spots for Loud Shirt Day !
- LOUD shoes are a great way to add some serious colour to your outfit for work or school on Loud Shirt Day.
Fundraising Idea – Fashion Parade
July, 7, 2011 By lisaWearing your support is one of the easiest ways to show that you care about deaf children and their families.
Hosting a fashion parade in your workplace, school, home or community group is such a FUN way to raise some funds for Loud Shirt Day and spread the word about why its so important to be involved.
- Invite your colleagues, students, friends or neighbours to your fashion parade by sending an email with a picture of yourself in the LOUDEST outfit you can put together.
- Let them know the date that you have chosen to have your fashion parade. Perhaps a Friday afternoon at work might work best for everyone, or you could have a morning tea at school or home?
- Invite everyone to make a donation by using the Fundraising Page that you can set up when you register for Loud Shirt Day. This make it really easy for people to contribute and it allows you to track how much is being raised across all of your social media as well.
- Be sure to encourage everyone to be creative when they are planning their LOUD outfits – its not all about the shirt .. loud scarves, shorts, ties, hats, pants, jackets or any other LOUD fashion statement is perfect for LOUD SHIRT DAY.
- Have a think about a prize for the LOUDEST outfit .. could you ask for a local business to donate something, or maybe your boss might consider a ‘Day Off Work’ as the prize if you are having your fashion parade at work?
- Keep it simple .. this is not Fashion Week .. its just a fun way to WEAR YOUR SUPPORT and encourage others to do the same. The parade just needs a bit of space and some music and a whole lot of LOUD !
- Remember the camera .. we want to see your Loud Shirt Day photos so take as many shots of the LOUD outfits as you can.
- THANK YOU – let everyone know how grateful you are for their support and remember to HAVE FUN !
